Continuing a brilliant tradition of success at the Olympic Games, Old Millfieldians Euan Dale (1997-2004; Edgarley and Keens Elm), Andrew Hunter (2002-2004; Keens Elm), and Mark Foster (1983-1986; Millfield) carried the Millfield flag to Beijing in August 2008. These trio acquitted themselves extremely well at the Games, all three making valued contributions to Britain’s most successful Olympic Swimming Team in the history of the modern Olympic Games. Currently training at Florida State University under the guidance and coaching of Neil Harper (1979-1984; Millfield), siblings Georgia Holderness (2001-2004; Day), and Robert Holderness have had an extremely successful year in swimming. Georgia attained selection to the Great Britain Swimming team for the FINA Swimming World Championships held in Rome in July 2009. She also made the final of the 50m Breaststroke for this event, placing her well inside the world top 10 for the year. Robert Holderness attained selection for the World University Games held in Serbia – another outstanding achievement, and very promising ahead of a Commonwealth Games year, and leading through to the Olympics in 2012.
