Gone But Not Forgotten – Chris Law

Tim Law (1969-74; Kingweston), the brother of Chris, wrote this letter to the Daily Telegraph in February:

“Sir – Reading about sport in your newspaper over the 33 years that I have been commuting on the train into London has made life just about bearable. This morning was no different, although sad when reading Gone But Not Forgotten (Sport, Dec 28). I feel that I should point out that you omitted to mention a gentleman who sadly took his own life in July, who among other things was a member of four British Olympic sailing teams, a double world champion, winner of the Fastnet and Sydney to Hobart races and had been ranked No 2 in the match-race world rankings. He graced the sports pages of your newspaper over the same period that I have been commuting. His name is Chris Law and he was my brother.”

Chris (1966-71; Rookery) was a remarkably good sportsman, playing for Millfield’s Rugby First XV for two years.
