Paul keeps Exeter up
Paul Tisdale (Edgarley 1984-86), manager of League 1 side Exeter City, saw his team score a crucial win over play-off high flyers Huddersfield Town on 8th May, to stay in the division for a second year. After a playing career which started at Southampton but which was ended prematurely by a persistent back injury, Paul went into coaching and had a hugely successful time as Head Coach of Team Bath. Then in June 2006 he was appointed Exeter manager, guiding them to a Conference play-off final in his first season, then back-to-back promotions into the Football League 2 and League 1 in his second and third seasons.
John Runs London Marathon for Charity
Ex-Carlisle United and Workington Reds footballer John Holliday (1986-88; Etonhurst) battled cancer of the tongue in 2008 but was finally given the all-clear, following months of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. John was quoted in the newspaper as saying “Its made me a more rounded person … I’m more thoughtful and aware of people with woes. It’s a cliché that you can’t do anything without your health, and you can’t.” If you’d like to help John’s cancer charity, please see www.justgiving.com/johnholliday1 .
