Nick left Millfield in 1968 and joined an advertising agency in London. Then in 1976 after four years with a contracting company specializing in water jetting and pressure washing he was invited to join a manufacturer of water jetting equipment. In 1979 he moved to the USA to set up distributors to sell Topper sailing dingies, but in 1982 he started the US division of the water jetting company that he had worked for in the UK. In 1991 he and a former colleague founded a manufacturing company, US Jetting, based in Alpharetta, Georgia, just north of Atlanta, which manufactures equipment that is now in use in 20 countries around the world. He has a staff of 30 employees.
