"Don't Kill The Cow Too Quick"
Malcolm has recently been in touch to tell us of his book, subtitled ‘An Englishman’s Adventures Homesteading in Panama’, which relates all the hazards of adapting to Latino culture based on self-experience. It is a 5 star book on Amazon.
Malcolm has also told us that he has much to thank Millfield for, turning a hopeless case into, in just two terms, a successful Civil Service Examination candidate, who graduated from Sandhurst and Staff College (Indian). After retiring to deal in art for twenty five years he took up organic farming in Panama, where he has been living for the past twelve years.

Dato Selamat Munap (1958-63; Orchards)
“The Wild Men of the East”
Selamat’s first novel concerns the inevitable fragility of lifelong friendships and shared ideals in the face of greed, ambition and the lust for power. It is also about man's natural weakness, his propensity for folly, his fallibility and corruptibility that allow predators and wild men of greed, ambition and acquisitiveness to thrive and prosper where principled men and idealistic leaders should hold sway.
Selamat is hoping to have a second novel published soon.

Michael Ridpath (1973-1978; Mill House)
“Where the Shadows Lie”
“Amid Iceland’s wild, volcanic landscape, rumours swirl about the secret sale of a long-lost ancient manuscript containing a saga about a ring of terrible power. The manuscript, guarded by one family for nearly eight centuries, was shown to J R R Tolkein in the 1930’s and was the spark that inspired The Lord of the Rings. That alone is enough to make the manuscript worth killing for…..but what if, as some think, the ring exists too? The book will be published in the UK in March, as well as in 9 other countries.
