In September,  Martha (Day;1983-88), a Uniformed Police officer at Wells, is cycling solo from John O'Groats to Lands End , a total of 964 miles, to raise money for Children's Hospice South West and their Precious Lives Appeal.

Precious Lives, the third hospice in the south-west, will be built by the end of 2011 on the outskirts of St Austell, to provide a home-from-home closer to home for the children of Cornwall and Plymouth. Like the other hospices in the region, it will offer a range of services such as 24-hour palliative care and end of life care, support for parents and other family, as well as help, advice and support in bereavement and beyond.

Despite having no cycling experience Martha is aiming to raise £5,000 and calls on all OMs to support her by giving generously through the Just Giving website (www.justgiving.com)
