OMS Latest:
John Wesley lived nearby, as is his namesake chapel, so Worship Street is aptly named, and it was here that Tim Griffiths (1979-1982; Georgian Cottage) hosted a buffet-luncheon on Friday 16th October. The venue was the 5th floor of one of Tim’s company properties, which had been converted into a penthouse banqueting suite for the occasion.
Some 50 or so OMs attended at Rod Speed’s invitation, although 6 no-shows were supplemented by 8 OMs who had not sent the requested R.S.V.P. After a welcoming speech by Rod, and a group photo, the lunch began, each table taking its turn at the inviting hot buffet. Good that the food was, our host Tim trumped all cards by supplying superb wines from his own French vineyard. There was of course a chance to meet and greet before, during and after the meal, which is the whole point of such events.
Hopefully some of those city-dwellers will be tempted down to the Somerset countryside to revisit the School, but all seemed to enjoy the fellowship and food. One criticism could be the lack of YLC members attending, although the few ladies there shone as beacons in a sea of suited and blazered men. The OMS Committee is most appreciative of Tim for his generous hosting of the luncheon.
