The OM Society was delighted to address this year’s School leavers at a special presentation on Tuesday 24th May.

Over 200 pupils attended the evening, eager to learn how the Society can help them when they leave Millfield; which won’t be long now! Introduced by the Society’s Chairman, Rod Speed, Amy Groves (1992*-99; Oaklands - and Chair of the London Branch), gave a passionate speech explaining why she chooses to be an active member of the Society, extolling the advantages of membership of such an exclusive club, and explaining what it’s done for her and her career.

Although mobile communications and social media are making it easier for young people to keep in touch, the Society still has a vital role to play in keeping alumini well connected. We have OMs in nearly every corner of the globe, and are always able to put fellow OMs in touch with one another; a particularly useful service for those looking to further broaden their horizons on leaving School, through travel, work or study.

The need for young people to gain work experience and to network is becoming imperative, and the Society is ideally placed to be able to facilitate valuable connections in many of the world’s most competitive and highly respected professions and industries. Many of our OMs are leaders in their fields. We operate a selective CV forwarding service for members who wish to make focused and genuine applications, and will always guide and help members seeking career advice. Regular reunion events are held all over the world providing important opportunities for networking, whilst also ensuring that friendships and connections are maintained, re-kindled and cemented.

Thanks to all those who attended, and promoted the event internally at the School; most notably the Headmaster, Heads of Year and Group Tutors.
