On Friday 2nd April, a splendid reunion was held at the impressive Marina Club in Aberdeen, over 100 attendees necessitating that the Club’s luxurious ballroom be used for the event. Old Millfieldians, former, current and prospective parents, and some children, were present to enjoy a cocktail hour before a sumptuous buffet-dinner. Millfield Senior and Junior Schools were represented by Headmasters Craig Considine and Kevin Cheney, and his wife, Hilary, and OMS Chairman, Rod Speed and his wife Marion, and Secretary John Davies were also there.
It was Craig’s first visit to Hong Kong and in his first year as Headmaster, his maiden overseas speech, following a short film presentation about Millfield, being well received as he delivered news of Millfield and plans for the future. (Subsequent to the Reunion, William Louey (1972-77; Chindit) accepted the Chairmanship of the Hong Kong Branch. Together with Secretary Tommy Ho (1982-86; Holmcroft), they will make a strong OMS Team.)
It really was an extremely memorable Millfield evening. That it was so successful was due in no small part to Hong Kong Branch Secretary Tommy Ho’s meticulous planning of the reunion (as well as his most generous personal contribution of the wines for the occasion, later John in particular taking a liking to his special supply of 1952 McCallan’s whiskey!), in association with the work of his most capable Secretary, Cheryl Wong.
Millfield has a huge number of friends in Hong Kong and this was clearly demonstrated at the Marina Club last April.
